Day 3 : Saigon – Cai Be (Biking - 30 km)
8:00 meet up at your hotel in Saigon. Transfer with bikes to Cai Lay. crossing a local ferry, ride to Cai Be on back roads for approx 1.5 hours, finish the morning ride at another ferry, and take a boat to a local industry, where you can learn how to make pop rice, coconut candies, and rice papers. Have lunch on an island before continuing onto our local home stay, a typical Mekong Delta Vietnam house, with airy rooms and an outdoor kitchen. The rest of the afternoon is free to explore the homestay's peaceful village. Dinner will be prepared by the homestay hosts, also you will be joining this memorable cooking class.

Ride a final few km to the very pretty Khmer town of Tra Vinh. There will be plenty of time to explore side tracks and trails as the cycling distance today is not far. Day 5 : Tra Vinh – Can Tho (80 km)
Today’s route is peaceful, with narrow and very pretty roads to Can Tho. There is plenty along the way to see, from the contrasting architectural styles of ethnic Khmer homes, to the numerous colorful Khmer temples and to the fascinating river scenes witnessed when pedaling over countless small wooden plank bridges and single trek lanes. Visit Ba Om Pond with its magnificent lotus flowers.

Day 6 : Can Tho – Long Xuyen (70 km)
Today’s ride is split into two sections and is a contrast to the previous day’s ride. After a very early breakfast, you will take a boat trip to the famous Cai Rang floating market before riding on a narrow paved road market to Phong Dien floating market. The route weaves through the morning market bustle along the banks of the very busy river. Absorb the sights of endless cottage industries, timber merchants, coconut shredders, small docks loading/unloading rice, and tiny vibrant markets. You will continue by bike on the narrow lane to the main road, In the afternoon, you will continue riding along a road leading upstream towards Long Xuyen. The ride ends with a final 25-minute transfer (1hr) to Long Xuyen.

Day 7 : Long Xuyen – Chau Doc (50 km)
Once more, today’s scenery is completely different. After a short early morning transfer to Tri Ton, the cycling starts to gently undulate and mountains begin to loom as you ride closer and closer to Chau Doc. The presence of Thot Not trees indicates the growing proximity to Cambodia and the local people speak Vietnamese as their second language. This afternoon you will cycle to the Killing Fields of Vietnam at Ba Chuc, where Pol Pot’s regime massacred over 3,000 Vietnamese in 1978. The route loops around to Chau Doc from Ba Chuc along the border, or re-trace back to Tri Ton (depending on road conditions) and ride the rest of the way to Chau Doc along incredible country roads. Those with energy to spare can climb Sam ‘Mountain’ for sunset! Dinner & overnight in a hotel for your last night in Vietnam.

Chau Doc is located west of the Mekong Delta between the upper and lower branches of the Mekong River. Explore beautiful footpaths on the lowland, houses on stilts, and see a colorful mosque by rice paddy on your cycle to Cho Moi. You have a chance to have a quick look at pagoda. Van/bus takes you out Hoi An, have a little time to warm up your body before pedaling uphill to the peak of Hai Van pass. Then travel by back roads to the ocean, cycling through fishing villages and an ancient burial-ground of Hue (called a “ghost city” by the locals), to Hue city. Another option, keep biking on a little country roads to Hue city.

Day 18 : Huong Khe – Vinh City
In the morning, ride to Dong Loc, the T-junction, which has become unforgettable memorial history in the country during 1964-1972, when soldiers, young volunteers, cadres, and workers guaranteed safe transport to the battlefield. Many people from different localities laid down their lives. In particular, the death of 10 young volunteer girls at Dong Loc T-junction has come to symbolize the patriotism of the era. Now, Dong Loc T-junction relic has become a commemorative area for the national young volunteer force. In the afternoon, ride to Vinh City.

Today, we have a chance to visit Uncle Ho’s house. Nam Dan district, Kiem Lien village is not only the homeland of Ho Chi Minh but also the hometown of many anti-colonist leaders. Ride on the new Ho Chi Minh highway to Kiem Lien village via Tan Ky and Do Luong. Visit Uncle Ho house in the afternoon, have a short drive to Thai Hoa Town. Overnight in Thai Hoa Hotel.

Day 20 : Thai Hoa – Ngoc Lac
An early morning start to beat the heat of the day. The route takes us away from the river and appears to contour through the same range of mountains that stretch from Thai Hoa to Ngoc Lac on Ho Chi Minh trails . The road gets more beautiful the closer you ride to Ngoc Lac with looming karst limestone cliffs and lush vegetation. The route is tarmac all the way, but quite hard riding due to the undulating terrain. We ride for the first time on the newly built two lane Ho Chi Minh Highway. It hardly warrants two lanes as there is no traffic! The road makes for smooth fast riding, and for those who prefer there is always the old highway dirt and gravel – that weaves around the new highway allowing for plenty of exploring possibilities along the way. The distance covered today is quite long and there will be the chance to transfer some sections by the back-up vehicle to rest weary legs.There are fewer villages today as the route cuts through forests and jungle lunch en route. Day 21 : Cam Thuy – Mai Chau

This is an old supply route of the HCM Trail that fed the main trail with ammunitions during the American War with Vietnam.. just passing scenes of local village life and rice paddies. . Day 22 : Mai Chau – Phu Yen

Breakfast, Today we will tough cycle out of Nghia Lo passing large white limestone mountains as we explore the “Real Vietnam”. Following the rolling road, to end the day in Tu Le. Leaving Tu Le we travel through rugged terrain with dense vegetation and come into contact with the Black Hmong and the mysterious White Tay people, who are famed for their folk music, poems, and songs. The road winds down out of the hills and we descend into the valley to end the day at Than Uyen.
