Northern Vietnam Loop Cycling Tour – 12 Days- North Vietnam is one of the interesting highlights for travel adventure in our country. One day, when your legs are tired, when you recognize that for a long time you lose something, lose your feeling, an adventure to North Vietnam is a great choice. You will be deep inside Ha Giang’s grandiose mountains or surf in Lao Cai’s fog. All these things keep your life more wonderful and meaningful.

Day 1 – Ha Noi  Challenging to  Nghia Lo ( Yen bai ) (L/D)
Pick up your hotel in  Ha Noi at 7:30 you will be met up with our team at your hotel in Hanoi. Depart for Yen Bai. Stops will be made en route for you to cycle. Our cycling is a spectacular ride on back roads that take us to Nghia Lo through a terrain of tea plantations, lush forests, rice fields, and gum trees. The town sits on a mountain ridge overlooking the Red and Black Rivers and is home to the Thai, Nung, Hmong, La Ha, and Ma peoples. Stay in Nghia Lo hotel.

Day 2 : Nghia Lo Challenging to Tu Le - Mu Cang Chai – Than Uyen  (B/L/D)
Breakfast, Today we will tough cycle out of Nghia Lo passing large white limestone mountains as we explore the “Real Vietnam”.  Following the rolling road, to end the day in Tu Le. Leaving Tu Le we travel through rugged terrain with dense vegetation and come into contact with the Black Hmong and the mysterious White Tay people, who are famed for their folk music, poems, and songs. The road winds down out of the hills and we descend into the valley to end the day at Than Uyen.

Day 3: Than Uyen Tough to Sapa (B/L/)
From Than Uyen we begin with a gentle 30km ascent to ride along with the Hoang Lien Son mountain range through magnificent landscape. Then, from Binh Lu Junction there is another hard ascent of 30 km to the top of the Tram Ton. Pass, on our way to Sa Pa. We stop on route to visit the “silver waterfall”, before descending into Sapa for the final 15kms.

Day 4: Sapa Cycling to Village ( B )
Cycling to Lao Chai villages to explore Sa Pa an old French hill station, in a spectacular location close to the Chinese border. This morning we will downhill to Village, Lao Chai, and Ta Van village ( Gay and H’mong people ). Cycle uphill back to Sapa for a challenge of 12 km. Afternoon free to explore Sapa market and Ham Rong Mountain...

Day 5: Sapa – Bac Ha. ~110 km ( B, L, D )
Breakfast at the hotel and cycle from Sapa to Lao Cai city to visit the border and cycle to Coc Ly to cycle up to Bac Ha (65 km) with stunning landscape. We check in Ngan Nga Hotel and have lunch on the way and cycle through the village. Stay overnight in Bac Ha.

Day 6: Bac Ha – Luc Yen – Vu Linh. ~150 km ( B, L, D )
( If Sunday we will visit Bac ha Market Nestled in the northern hills of Vietnam exists one of the best ethnic markets in all of Southeast Asia! On Sundays, the ethnic minorities from the surrounding villages and hills come by foot, by motorscooter, by horse, and by water buffalo for their chance to socialize, eat, drink, smoke, get a haircut, and buy produce and meat for the next week. It is a blur of colorful plaids and stripes ). We start the day by strolling around Bac Ha market to meet with many ethnic villages in this area. We then move towards lake Thac Ba. From Bac Ha to Luc Yen, the road is easy and sealed all the way. After Luc Yen, we take a small dirt track bordered by palm trees, in the middle of the karsts. We arrive at Vu Linh, a traditional village of Dao where we sleep with the family of our friends. The welcome is exceptional.

Day 7:  Vu Linh – Ba Be Lake ~250 km. ( B, L, D )
Quite a long drive but easy (early departure is better) from Vu Linh to Ba Be (~250 km). Ba Be is a nice stop and it is good to arrive on the first day to have a full day (of the second) day there. However, if you feel like resting before, it is all the time possible to stop 50 km before Ba Be. The place before Ba Be is Na Khan, a village of Tay people lost in the forest.

Day 8: Ba Be – Tinh Tuc – Bao Lac ( B, L, D )
Morning cycling from villages to Ha Hieu and then we start cycling through the forest of Mt. Pia Oac, this is a very old bumpy road through the forest and many villages of the Tay people. Many mountains pass to conquer, the most challenging one is Phia Den pass +1200m. Late afternoon we have a bus transfer to Bao Lac for the night. Total cycling ~ 80-100km today. O/N Duc Tai hotel

Day 9: Bao Lac – Niem Son – Meo Vac ( B, L , D )
Good paved road along Gam river, with very nice scenery between Bac Mieu and Bao Lam. Picnic lunch en route. Late afternoon we cycle to Niem Son and start up the mountain to Meo Vac. O/N Home-stay

Day 10: Meo Vac to Dong Van – Yen Minh ( B , L, D )
If Sunday we will spend the morning visiting the beautiful Meo Vac market before we have a short ride today, but the Ma Phi Leng mountain pass is fantastic. It is the most beautiful mountain pass winding between the Karst mountain in North Vietnam. Nice day going through the mountain with a stop at Xa Phin to visit the House of Hmong’s King. Late pm we promenade around this small town. More info about Dong Van plateau geopark. O/N Yen Minh hotel.

Day 11 :  Yen Minh to Quan Ba and Ha Giang ( B, L , D )
Start cycling uphill from your hotel and get up to the heaven gate of Quan Ba pass. Stop for a panorama view of the famous Mam Xoi mountain, then we have a long descent to Ha Giang. O/n in Ha Giang

Day 12: Ha giang to Hanoi (B , L )
Early morning starts cycling from homestay to Ha Giang to Bac Quang, then transfer back to Hanoi 295 km, Arrival Hanoi in the late afternoon. End The Tour.
